Job Title: Afterschool Program Instructor

Position Overview:
The Afterschool Program Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-aged children. The Instructor will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, support the children’s social and emotional growth, and ensure that our Christian values are integrated into daily programming. This role requires strong communication skills, a caring attitude, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Child Supervision & Safety:
    • Directly supervise up to 29 children in all program areas during operating hours with potential for extended hours.
    • Ensure a safe and secure environment by adhering to safety protocols, emergency procedures, and facility guidelines as outlined by the church and local/state regulations.
  • Program Planning & Implementation:
    • Develop and implement age-appropriate educational and enrichment activities.
    • Support structured and unstructured play that fosters creativity, teamwork, and spiritual growth.
  • Christian Environment:
    • Integrate core Christian values and ministry vision into daily activities and interactions.
    • Collaborate with the administrator and other staff to ensure the program aligns with the church’s mission.
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and the church administration.
    • Document and report on daily activities, incidents, and children’s progress.
  • Collaboration & Professionalism:
    • Work cooperatively with the second personnel team member and the administrative staff.
    • Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions as scheduled.


Qualifications:

  • Experience & Education:
    • Previous experience in child supervision, education, or a related field preferred but not required.
    • Familiarity with or willingness to learn practices in early childhood education.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • A compassionate individual who models patience, encouragement, and respect.
    • Commitment to upholding Christian values.
  • Requirements:
    • Must pass a comprehensive background check and any other state-required screenings.
    • Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
    • Flexibility to work additional hours if the program requires extended operations.

Position Overview:
The Afterschool Program Assistant supports the day-to-day care and engagement of school-aged children in a faith-based setting. This role involves working closely with the Afterschool Program Instructor to ensure that activities run smoothly and that each child receives attentive care. Candidates for this role must be proactive, a team player, and committed to the Christian mission of Ministerio Monte De Los Olivos.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Supervision:
    • Assist in supervising up to 29 children during program hours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
    • Provide direct support in implementing daily activities and educational programs.
  • Activity Facilitation:
    • Aid in setting up and monitoring activities, games, and creative projects.
    • Help in maintaining an environment that is both structured and conducive to personal and spiritual growth.
  • Encouragement of Christian Values:
    • Model and encourage Christian values and ethical behavior.
    • Support the integration of spiritual teachings through age-appropriate discussions and activities.
  • Administrative Assistance:
    • Assist with check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance records.
    • Help document daily progress, incident reports, and communicate effectively with the Program Instructor and church administration.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work effectively as part of a close-knit team.
    • Contribute to a cooperative and positive environment, supporting both colleagues and program goals.


Qualifications:

  • Experience & Education:
    • Prior experience working with children in a school, afterschool, or volunteer capacity at church.
    • Experience in program support or related child care roles is an asset.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • A caring, energetic, and responsible individual who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
    • A commitment to supporting a Christian-based program and aligning with the church’s vision.
  • Requirements:
    • Must be willing to undergo a thorough background check and comply with all child safety protocols.
    • Possession of or willingness to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
